Collection: Brit Reed

Brit Reed is a multidisciplinary artist, working specifically in beadwork and illustration. She attended Columbia College Chicago from 2007-2010 and studied film/video and photography. She attended the Reservation-Based Community-Determined Program and received her Bachelors of Art at The Evergreen State College in 2014. Additionally she received her Master in Public Administration with a Concentration in Tribal Governance in 2016. In 2018 she received her Associates of Arts degree in Culinary Arts from the Seattle Culinary Academy. She was taught originally how to bead in 2011 by Ben Sitting Bull. Reed’s work is highly influenced by what she not-so-jokingly refers to as “the Old South” incorporating southeastern iconography, motifs, architecture, astronomy, and flora & fauna. Her work in recent years has taken on what she calls illustrative beadwork - fusing illustrative techniques with her beadwork incorporating color theory, highlights and shadows to bring her pieces to life.
